Print this emergency contact pamphlet
When disaster strikes, there are many urgent things to do. It is not the best time to try to find phone numbers to call.
Those least prepared to deal with disaster often suffer the most. Be prepared: print and fill the emergency contact pamphlet.
Print it for yourself and for your spouse, and one more piece to hang at easy-to-see place such as a fridge. Write there other telephone numbers you may need, such as veterinary emergency for your pet, etc, and keep the pamphlet in your wallet. Write your insurance account number on a separate piece of paper, so that nobody knows what this number is if a wallet is stolen.
Enter the phone numbers into your telephone and computer address books.

In the meantime, make sure that you can shut off all your utilities:
that you know where to shut off water, gas, electricity,
and that there are handles on all valves you may need to shut off.
For insurance purposes - photograph or list contents of your home, especially valuables and hard to replace items, and keep the photos in a fire-safe or off site in a safe deposit box.
