Agriteam’s 5-year, CAD 10M “Promoting Opportunities for Women in Agribusiness Project” (POWAP) will enhance the economic wellbeing of women in Egypt’s agribusiness sector.

Working in three governorates of Upper Egypt, POWAP will increase job opportunities for women, improve workplace policies and practices to enhance women’s wellbeing in agribusinesses, and increase innovation through women-owned environmentally sustainable agribusinesses. The Global Affairs-funded project will also improve the gender responsiveness of key government policies and regulations to promote women’s economic participation through entrepreneurship and small and medium enterprise (SME) development.

POWAP aligns with Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy, and Egypt’s objective of developing women’s capacities to enhance their employment options, expand their participation in the workforce, support entrepreneurship and realize equal opportunities for women’s employment in all sectors.
