Rick Sunstrum, Project Manager, Community-Driven Initiatives for Food Security (CIFS), Ghana
Rick has 26 years’ experience working in many countries in Africa, including Botswana, Sudan, Malawi, Ethiopia, South Africa and Ghana. He was the managing director of a non-governmental organization working in the Southern Africa region on the sustainable use and management of indigenous natural resources for income and environmental conservation. As director with Save the Children UK in Sudan, he directed a large multi-donor-funded food security program in Darfur and Bahr el Ghazal states. As the East African program manager for CHF Partners in Rural Development, he managed a number of projects including the C$12 million CIDA-funded Partnership for Food Security project in Ethiopia. He also managed judicial reform projects in China, Philippines, Ghana and Russia as senior program manager at National Judicial Institute of Canada. Rick is currently the Canadian team leader for the CIDA-funded Community-Driven Initiatives for Food Security Project (CIFS). He has an MBA from Buckinghamshire Chilterns University in the UK and is a graduate of the University of Guelph, Kemptville College campus.
