The Team

Mona Zikri, Deputy Field Director, Support to Egyptian Primary Schooling Project (STEPS II), Egypt

Mona Zikri has more than 25 years of experience in education as a university professor and with donor-funded education projects in Egypt. Since 1993, she has occupied higher managerial positions at Helwan University as deputy dean, with USAID as project management specialist and with the World Bank as task team leader. Since 2005, Dr. Zikri has been the deputy director for Agriteam’s CIDA-funded STEPS II project, which has complemented her policy- and program-level expertise with project-level experience. In these different capacities Mona has participated in program/project design such as the USAID’s Education Reform Project, supervised multimillion-dollar projects including USAID’s $40 million-dollar Integrated English Language Project II, the World Bank’s $70 million-dollar Education Enhancement Program (EEP) and the $50 million-dollar Secondary Education Enhancement Program (SEEP). Her responsibilities also included policy dialogues around reform with top policy makers. With STEPS II she has participated in project management, providing technical assistance as well as developing a unique component on school leadership capacity. Mona has a PhD from Manchester University (U.K.) in linguistics, which has supported her technical work and know-how in education.
