José Garcia Córdova, Field Director, PROMEB, Peru
José has vast experience in the rural education context and has worked for more than 20 years as a school principal, education specialist and coordinator within the Ministry of Education in Peru. José has been the principal trainer in numerous pedagogical events in the Piura region and the monitor of innovative education experiments in rural education. He also managed a pilot for rural education in the border region of Peru and Ecuador. In Piura, José has been the instigator of the Rural Round Table, a monthly event for social mobilization in which local governments, the Regional Department of Education, teachers and parents participate to come up with solutions to the challenges of rural education. In addition to his duties as field director of PROMEB, José has just assumed the role of principal education advisor to the Regional Government of Piura to assist them in organizational planning and implementation of their education system. He has a BEd and a Masters in Education Management, and holds several diploma degrees in public education administration.
