The Team

Garine Hovsepian, Legal and Judicial Reform Specialist

Garine is currently the Canadian manager of the CIDA-funded Juvenile Justice Reform Project for Ukraine. Prior to joining Agriteam, she worked for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Georgia. Her work experience includes monitoring and protecting the rights of refugees, internally displaced and returnees; participating in UNHCR’s cooperation projects to support governments in developing national policies for assisting displaced persons; analyzing legislation on housing and property restitution; and coordinating legal and advocacy strategies with NGOs providing legal aid to the displaced. Prior to working in the field of international human rights and technical cooperation, Garine practiced private law in Quebec. She has a law degree from the University of Montreal, an MA in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy (Massachusetts), and a Certificate of International Studies from the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva.
