Health

Agriteam has been working on health, population and HIV/AIDS issues since 1995. Our health team includes public health, medical and nursing professionals from Canada and around the world with experience in Africa, Asia, and the Americas. Our expertise spans community health, health sector reform, health education and promotion, HIV/AIDS, reproductive health and family planning, health management information systems, and sector-wide approaches in health.

We collaborate with national and sub-national partners to create enabling environments for the development of policies, systems and programs that improve the health of the poor, via methodologies such as:

We work with partners and stakeholders at all levels to identify their objectives, and to help them stay focused on achieving results, including the Millennium Development Goals for health.

Our current HIV/AIDS Surveillance Project (HASP) aims to enhance the Government of Pakistan’s capacity to implement an effective national surveillance system for HIV/AIDS, integrating biological and behavioural surveillance with high-risk populations. The project has successfully established an evidence-based approach to HIV planning and programming in Pakistan.

Through the Systems-Orientated Health Investment Program (SOHIP) in Pakistan, we are helping to strengthen district health systems in Punjab province. Key focuses are improving health management and accountability systems and increasing attention on health promotion as a critical approach for sustainable improvements in health outcomes.

In Nigeria, we are strengthening the capacity of post-secondary educators to provide effective education to basic and mid-level PHC personnel as part of the College/School of Health Technology and Primary Health Care Development Project.

We have extensive experience in designing, monitoring and evaluating health, HIV/AIDS and population projects, including projects which are part of broader sector-wide or program-based approaches.
