The Trah Vinh Improved Livelihoods Project focuses on increasing the living standards and the productive capacity of poor households and villages in the province through an integrated set of agricultural and rural development initiatives. Targeted sectors include capacity development for government in planning, management and implementation of agriculture and rural development policies and programs in support of poverty reduction as well as village-level activities related to off-farm income generation, crop and livestock production, dairy and aquaculture.

Agriteam provided professional and technical expertise on the integration of gender dimensions into the design and implementation of the three core components of the Social Safety Nets Program: labour-intensive public works, conditional transfers and unconditional transfers.

Agriteam managed this project to support and promote human rights for women, especially in Bangladesh's garment sector by bringing together NGO and government actors together in discussions regarding women's labour rights, codes of conduct and garment sector policy. We built the capacity of Bangladeshi NGO to advocate for the integration of gender equality concerns into government planning and programs.

Agriteam provided expertise in developing a comprehensive gender strategy and action plan to the Campaign for Popular Education (CAMPE), supported by the Royal Netherlands Embassy (RNE).

The project worked in Bangladesh, India and Nepal to improve the understanding and prevention of the trafficking of women and children. Specifically, it supported research and documentation, national and sub-regional policy, exchange programs for governments and NGOs, and a sub-regional anti-trafficking conference.

Agriteam built the capacity of government and machinery for women at the national and sub-national levels to mainstream a gender perspective into policy, planning and monitoring mechanisms. It also worked to improve awareness of and response to violence against women.

The overall project is strengthening the efficiency and capacity of companies in the Latin American petroleum sector to develop and implement environmental protection technologies.

Gender Equity Training Program, Canada/China Oil and Gas Technology Transfer Program (TransCanada Int'l Ltd./CIDA) in association with the University of Calgary, developed gender equity awareness and gender analytical skills with Chinese representatives of oil and gas research centres across China. Facilitated adoption of gender equity principles and opportunities for women in the sector.
