The objective was to assist Uruguayan farm managers in the upgrading of their livestock management skills by teaching them intensive livestock management techniques successfully used in Alberta, a Canadian leader in livestock production. Agriteam managed a comprehensive training program in dairy and beef cattle management which included institutional courses of study in Canada, individualized curriculum, practical attachments on Alberta farms, and study tours of Canadian agricultural institutions, cooperatives, agro-processing facilities, research institutions and federal and provincial government departments and agencies. Twenty farm manager trainees from Uruguay were placed on selected farms in Alberta for six months each year for two years to receive hands-on training.
