Alex Schumacher, Vice-President, Agriculture and Environmental Specialist
Alex Schumacher is a respected agricultural and environmental specialist with 42 years of experience. He has worked in both managerial and technical positions. As a senior manager he has directed projects in such diverse fields as rural development, irrigation system development, water supply and biodiversity conservation. He has also participated in project design, monitoring and evaluation activities. As a soil, land resources and environmental specialist he has participated not only in agricultural development but also in land reclamation related to coal, oil sands and base metals industries. He has worked extensively in China, Indonesia, Afghanistan and other parts of Asia as well as in many countries in Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean; and also in North America. His clients have included CIDA, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, FAO and a wide variety of governmental and private institutions.
