Peru, Strengthening of Regional Governments for Social and Economic Development (SRGSED) in Northern Peru: July 2011–July 2018
Project Description
The goal of SRGSED is to enhance sustainable and equitable economic growth and to reduce inequality of opportunities in Northern Peru. It will accomplish this through improved quality and more inclusive delivery of services at the regional level with a special emphasis on vulnerable populations (children and youth, women, and rural and indigenous populations). The project aims to enhance the capacity of the Government of Peru and five regional governments to plan and deliver equitable and inclusive public services to citizens through strengthening the government’s capacities in: planning, administration, information management and e-government.
SRGSED is a capacity building and technical assistance project that aims at sustainable and equitable economic growth and reduced inequality of opportunities in Northern Peru. Through providing support to four regional governments in Northern Peru (Tumbes, Piura, Lambayeque, and La Libertad) the project will achieve more inclusive delivery, improved quality and increased accessibility of public services in each of the regions.
The project objectives are to:
•Improve quality and increase accessibility of public services at the regional level with a special emphasis on vulnerable populations (children, youth, women, rural, indigenous).
•Promote efficient, transparent, and inclusive practices of Regional Governments to advance sustainable and equitable economic growth.
•Improve the ability of Regional Governments to develop participatory, gender-sensitive planning systems in coordination with national, district, and local levels of government to meet the needs of women, girls and boys, rural, indigenous and other vulnerable populations.
•Increase institutional ability of RGs in participatory, results-based public management of services, programs, policies and procedures that meet the needs of women, girls and boys, rural, indigenous, and other vulnerable populations.
•Increase ability of Regional Governments to develop, implement and maintain information management systems (including both IT and information capture, analysis and dissemination), that are compatible (and integrated where necessary) with those of central and district governments, that meet the needs of women, girls and boys, rural, indigenous, and other vulnerable populations.
