Project Description

The purpose of this assignment is to assist the CIDA Project Manager with technical monitoring and assessment of SIMP II on an as-needed basis. The monitor helps CIDA to assess the continuing local relevance of the project, the progress of the project towards achieving expected results, including gender equality results, and cost-effectiveness of the project.

Projects activities are structured around the following services:
•Familiarization with SIMP II
•Provision of Technical Advice
•Preparation of Annual Monitoring Workplans
•Monitoring activities in Canada
•Monitoring mission in China
•Technical cooperation / technical assistance reporting

SIMP II is a 7 year, CAD$24.4M project implemented by SC in partnership with the NBS. It is a follow-up project to SIMP I, that focused on building the overall management and technical capacity of NBS. SIMP II involves technical assistance from Statistics Canada to develop specific tools to gather and disseminate accurate and reliable statistics across a range of economic, social and environmental issues in line with China’s international obligations.
