- Agriteam Canada Consulting Ltd. is the lead firm in a consortium that also includes the University of Manitoba and ProAction: Partners for Community Health in implementing the Canada-Pakistan HIV/AIDS Surveillance Project (HASP), funded by the Canadian International Development Agency. The project seeks to enhance the capacity of the Government of Pakistan to implement an effective Second Generation Surveillance (SGS) System for HIV/AIDS. HASP is a capacity building project that involves working with the National AIDS Control Program (NACP), Provincial AIDS Control Programs (PACPs) and other stakeholders to develop a sustainable SGS system for HIV/AIDS. To date, HASP has succeeded in putting in place an effective SGS system that identifies population sub-groups at increased risk for HIV and other Sexually Transmitted Infections; provides timely warning of sudden changes in levels or distribution of HIV or of risk behaviours in those population sub-groups; and enables planners to understand the potential routes through which HIV can spread from high risk groups to the general population. Recently our consortium received an 18 month time extension on the project. The project will conclude in October 2011.
